Did you know

  • that there are fire-breathing dragons in the Drakensberg (the Dragon Mountain Range) in South Africa?

  • that the string theory relates to a harp?

  • that witch-doctors are medical advisers to witches?

  • that goblets are drinking vessels - not small goblins?

  • that there is a rumour the Sahara became a desert by accident?

  • that dwarves may be mysogynists?

  • that snake poison could rot your teeth?

The book The Stolen Strings will reveal ancient secrets known only to a select few:

Magical beings constructed a unique harp a long time ago in an effort to attain peace and harmony in the world. The harp lost its strings, and with them much of its power, when vandalized by drunk goblins. Now hidden somewhere in the Drakensberg and protected by an invisibility spell, the instrument, although damaged, still exudes enough magic to keep a vestige of harmony in the universe. If the remnants of the harp were to be destroyed, the precarious balance between good and evil would not be maintained any longer.  A recent attempt by an emissary from the sorceress Morgan le Fay to force the harp into revealing itself, with the aim to annihilate it, failed - but set off a chain of extraordinary events that stirred into action creatures that had long remained hidden, certainly from human eyes. Because it is not only Morgan who wants to destroy the harp - Lusus, a ruthless, ambitious dragon has the same goal. And he arrives in the Drakensberg with an entourage of dark and evil creatures, all hell-bent on gaining power and riches by eliminating the gentler creatures, those who wish for peace. Literally by accident, Isabella Harfner tumbles into this vortex where gritty resolve and unflinching bravery are needed to stand against the malicious forces gathering around a powerful leader.

A most amazing group of benign magical creatures living by the motto "Do no harm" hastily assemble to debate strategies and discuss defence plans, among them the famous wizard Merlin. Previously the mightiest wizard, he has become a pitiful shadow of his former self, an old man with little confidence, even an object of ridicule to some.

Two armies eventually face up to each other, one led by Merlin, the other by the determined Lusus who is in cahoots with Morgan le Fay, the evil witch. Each army boasts within its ranks soldiers with impressive magic abilities. However, there are also a number of combatants whose magical powers are somewhat uncertain, indeed some of them are so hilariously incompetent that they pose a bigger danger to themselves than to the enemy.

A weird and wonderful medley of the good, the bad and the ugly prepare for the final clash, one side determined to safeguard the instrument of peace, the harp, their lives and their future, the other side set on destruction, mayhem and victory at all costs.
