Imagine  waking up – and finding yourself in a cave,  surrounded by real live dragons, a faery, a witch doctor  ………..

This is what happened to Isabella Harfner. When on a "Dragon Safari" in the Drakensberg she accidentally tripped, fell down the mountainside and sustained a number of injuries. A dragon rescued the unconscious girl and took her to his cave for first-aid treatment. When she regained consciousness and faced some very odd creatures, she naturally reacted with fear and disbelief.

Eventually, the helpful dragon, the healing faery and the old witch doctor were able to calm her. Once she had accepted the rather bizarre situation her curiousity was aroused - and that signalled the beginning of an amazing adventure.

There is really nothing strange about Isabella – except that she is genetically slightly different from other people. One of her ancestors was a faery and now, after many generations, some magic abilities have suddenly surfaced in this girl.

In the old days, when magic beings and humans still had a lot more contact with each other than nowadays, it did happen that humans and magic people married and had offspring. It is, however, exceedingly rare to find humans today who carry the magic gene.

Being related – so to speak – to the magic community made it easier for Isabella to become involved with them. There is an old belief about a human-plus (which is their name for a human with magic roots) who would help to bring about peace and maybe re-unite the magic and human communities, kindling hope for a brighter future for everyone.

But even more extraordinary than Isabella being related to faeries is the fact that her mother is a harpist and that there exists a direct link to the enchanted harp, the revered instrument of peace.

Isabella is taken aback when she learns that the harp itself has pointed to her as the pivotal person at the side of the embattled members of the magic community who are now threatened by Lusus and the dangerous Morgan le Fay. The girl is sceptical; it seems so unlikely, that she can be of help, but she certainly does not want to disappoint her new friends.

She takes the leap into the unknown with unexpected results.
