A ghoul is an evil spirit, a fiendish creature, much given to howling and devouring flesh of a dubious nature. Literature, not surprisingly, is unlittered with references to ghouls, although they are mentioned in the Arabian tales of One Thousand and One Nights.

Their appearance is so ghastly, that they have taken to wearing loose drapes, to hide their appalling features.

Magic abilities? Not a lot, really. They do show a surprising talent when it comes to cave paintings, though.
